The owner of social media accounts Libs of TikTok unearthed a post from a transgender activist who planned to back a plan to ship prescription hormones to minors.

Listen to CBN News’ brand new morning podcast, Quick Start.

TikTok’s Libs and The Daily Wire’s conservative commentator Matt Walsh have reported activist, Eli Erlick, to the US Drug Enforcement Administration for the “confessed conspiracy to ship prescription hormone pills to minors at the national and international scale.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Erlick explained the plan to ship the prescription drugs to North America because “[t]there are over 20 states trying to criminalize hormone therapy.

The activist – who would have claimed the assassination of justices of the Supreme Court of the United States – continued:

So my friends and I had an idea: send our extra prescriptions across the country. If you need hormones, I work with a distribution network to get you there. Everything is free, no questions asked. We have hundreds of testosterone, estradiol and spironolactone doses available now. All are doctor prescribed and unused. Each package contains information on dosage, obtaining blood tests, and more.

I realize this is just a band-aid solution: we need full access to affirmative medical care from professionals immediately. However, missing even one dose of hormones can be devastating (especially for trans teens and those new to hormones)! These laws are outrageous and I can’t wait for them to be overturned. In the meantime, email me if you need HRT or have any over-prescribed hormones you’d like to send.

Walsh accused Erlick of committing a “flagrant federal crime” that should be reported to authorities.

Although Erlick deleted the original post, the transgender activist intervened about it in a since-expired Instagram Story, facetiously thanking TikTok’s Walsh and Libs “for the free publicity.”

Erlick’s alleged scheme to ship hormone drugs to minors is concerning, but it’s not a new phenomenon.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a study from the Annals of Family Medicine found that 9% of transgender people in the United States – approximately 170,000 Americans – were receiving hormone replacement therapy from so-called “ gray markets’, i.e. from unofficial sources outside the scope of professional medical supervision.

According to Insider:

Although unofficial sources are not always dangerous, there are risks associated with sourcing hormones from friends without medical supervision.

The dosages can be wrong, which can lead to a number of consequences depending on the hormone. Testosterone causes the blood to thicken, so if a dose is increased too quickly without knowing it, it can lead to stroke or heart attack.

Sourcing from online distributors may also mean obtaining hormones that contain unknown ingredients or contaminants.

Erlick’s speech for prescription drugs comes as the debate over this issue — particularly as it relates to minors — continues to heat up.

CBN News recently reported on a bill introduced by California lawmakers who want to turn the Golden State into a sanctuary for children seeking medical treatment to affirm their transgender identity. If approved by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), California courts would be allowed to enter “temporary emergency jurisdiction” for a child present in the state who otherwise could not obtain puberty blockers, hormone therapies, or body surgeries elsewhere.

The bill’s lead sponsor, State Sen. Scott Wiener (D), said the proposal protects children in states like Texas, Alabama and Idaho, where parents can be penalized for having allowed their children to receive transgender-affirming medical treatments, which can leave a child sterile, infertile, and at greater risk for other health complications in the future.

Others, however, see it as a direct attack on parents.

Greg Burt of the California Family Council told CBN News that the legislation “declares war on parents across the country who don’t want their children sterilized because of their gender dysphoria, a condition that resolves in most cases after a child reaches adulthood”.
