Customers lift airline bankruptcy merger line to 2nd Circ.

By Vince Sullivan (April 21, 2022, 7:27 p.m. EDT) — A group of airline customers on Thursday signaled plans to appeal a New York federal judge’s decision upholding a 2013 merger between American Airlines and US Airways all the way to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, prolonging the long-running antitrust battle that resulted from American’s bankruptcy.

The group of plaintiffs – made up of travel agents and direct purchasers of airline tickets from the two airlines – filed a notice of appeal from last month’s New York District Court order that upheld a 2019 bankruptcy court ruling approving the merger.
